Prior to the 2025 Federal Election, Assistant Minister Andrew Leigh indicated that a re-elected Labor Government would “… continue to consider initiatives in the Blueprint…to inform our ongoing work of boosting the not-for-profit and charity sector.”
The Society noted Dr Leigh’s advice on the Government’s commitment to move forward with the implementation of initiatives that flow from the Blueprint, and the Productivity Commission report on philanthropic giving, during his conversation with Senator Dean Smith at the National Press Club on 23 April 2025.
Members of the Blueprint Expert Reference Group and the NFP Sector acknowledge that the Government’s responses to the 10-year map to strengthen the NFP Sector outlined in the Blueprint would be predicated significantly on an Albanese Government’s ‘second term’ agenda.
We now call on the Albanese Government to outline how it proposes to implement the 10-year plan, which will guide the building of a stronger NFP sector to deliver a fairer Australia to all, especially those who are struggling.
St Vincent de Paul Society Australia rallied at Parliament House with other charities and not-for-profits to support Anti-Poverty Week, with a particular focus on ending child poverty.

The Australian Government partnered with state and territory governments to establish a Skills Agreement to deliver 180,000 Fee-Free TAFE and vocational educational places.
It is prioritised for specific groups and qualifications and courses may differ in each state and territory.
