Our Donation Guide
Decided it’s time to declutter? Or the kids have outgrown their clothes, but they’re still in excellent condition? By donating your pre-loved items to Vinnies they will get a new life, support South Australians doing it tough, and reduce landfill and the impact on the environment.
Vinnies shops need your great quality items to help fund our community services programs.
When considering whether something can be donated to Vinnies, our rule of thumb is if you’d give it to a friend, then it’s ok to give to Vinnies.
We'd love to receive your clean and good quality:
- Clothing, accessories and shoes
- Toys (except those that take button batteries)
- Bric-a-brac, homewares and manchester
- Books, DVDs, CDs and records
- Furniture (selected stores only)
We'd love to receive these; they just need to tick a few boxes first:
- School uniforms - must not have emblem embroidery
- Cots and Porta Cots - must meet ACCC Product Safety Guidelines for secondhand sale (read more here: https://www.productsafety.gov.au/business/search-mandatory-standards/household-cots-mandatory-standard)
- Prams and Strollers - must meet ACCC Product Safety Guidelines for secondhand sale (read more here: Prams and strollers guide | ACCC Product Safety)
- Building Materials - Only if NEW, preferably in the box
- Mattresses - NEW ONLY
- Pillows - NEW must be in packaging
- Underwear - NEW ONLY
We cannot accept:
- Company uniforms
- Military and service uniforms
- Embroidered school uniforms
- Toys that take button batteries
- Swords
- Replica guns, firearms and ammunition
- Child car seats
- Gas bottles
- Vehicle parts
- Water beds
- Riding and protective helmets
- Offensive or pornographic material
- Outdoor playground sets
- Lawnmowers
- Alcohol
- Gas, oil and kerosene heaters
Please do not donate:
- Ripped, torn, soiled or stained clothing
- Broken, ripped or stained furniture
- Cracked or broken homewares
- Stained bedding including mattresses
- Green waste
- Household waste
