Welcome to Vinnies Youth

Vinnies was founded by a 20 year old student named Frederic Ozanam. It was established by youth in the spirit of youth and this compassionate outlook, enthusiasm and vision continues today in Australia.

Vinnies Youth is the name for the inspiring young people who volunteer for the St Vincent de Paul Society Australia. There are thousands of young people who every day share their time, care for humanity and energy to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people around Australia.

Vinnies Youth is a broad term to encompass all ages and groups of volunteers including Young Adults, Young Vinnies (High School and Colleges) and Mini Vinnies (Primary Schools).

There are many exciting programs and activities happening in every state and territory, so why not see what you can do to enrich the lives of others and sign up to volunteer! You will find the experience of helping people rewarding, fun, invigorating and the best decision you will ever make!

In the Canberra/Goulburn Central Council...

Vinnies Youth is a group of young volunteers aged 16-35 years, whose aim is to help disadvantaged children. Vinnies Youth organise holiday camps and activities for children aged 6-12 years from low income families or families suffering some disadvantage. Holiday camps and activites are also catered for young carers aged 9-15 years, who are caring for a family member with an illness or disability at home, and is in need of respite.

Youth Camps

St Joseph the Carpenter Conference runs camps and activities for disadvantaged children aged between 6 and 12 years. The camps are usually 5 days in length and are run in each school holiday period. Volunteers must be 16 years or over.

Young Carers Camps and Activities

Young carers camps and activities are designed specifically for young people aged 9 to 15 years who care for someone in their family with an illness or disability. These programs are run by the St Nicholas Conference and the camps are held twice a year. Day activities include picnics, swimming, bowling, and going to the movies, are run monthly in the periods between the camps. Volunteers must be aged 19 years and over.
