Dr Jennifer Fitzgerald AM, a distinguished leader in the field of social services and disability support, assumed the role of Group CEO at St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria in July 2023, bringing with her an impressive background and an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact.
Prior to joining St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria, Dr Fitzgerald served as the CEO of Scope, a prominent provider of disability support services in Australia. During her tenure, she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills by successfully navigating the complexities of the sector and spearheading strategic growth initiatives.
In 2021, she was honoured with the Order of Australia Medal (AM), a prestigious accolade that acknowledged her long-standing dedication to the disability sector. This award is a testament to her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those in need.
Witnessing her mother's selfless dedication as a volunteer at St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria, Dr Fitzgerald developed a heartfelt respect for the organisation’s work from a young age – deeply appreciating the organisation's values and transformative approach of providing a 'hand up' to those in need.
“I well remember my mother talking about her time as treasurer at her local conference, and her strong connection, through her SVDPV volunteer work, to the community.
“Perhaps, as a result, I am driven to help create a future where every person, regardless of their circumstances, has access to housing, support, resources and opportunities they need to thrive – particularly in the current challenging times of rising costs and homelessness.”
Her compassionate leadership style and extensive experience make her an invaluable asset to the organisation, as she continues to drive positive change and uphold the organisation's core values.
