David found out how easy it is to lose everything and be pushed into homelessness.
All his life he worked hard but then the work dried up and he found himself unable to pay the rent. It was a devastating shock. In a few short months, he went from a well-paid job to sleeping in a park.
All it took was one sudden setback and David was sleeping rough.
This winter, more and more people like David are being pushed into homelessness. All it takes is one sudden crisis.

National Volunteer Week
Celebrating our wonderful volunteers – the heart of Vinnies. National Volunteer Week is a special moment in our year to show gratitude to the incredible volunteers who make Vinnies what it is. Across Western Australia, more than 2400 volunteers generously give their time, energy and compassion to support our shops, services and local communities. They are the friendly faces customers look forward to seeing, the hands sorting donations with care, the listeners offering kindness, and the hearts helping those who need it most.
To every single volunteer – thank you. You make a difference every day, and we couldn’t do any of this without you.
If you’re interested in volunteering, we invite you to join us at one of our Volunteer Open Days. Our Vinnies shops in Osborne Park, Rockingham, Southern River, Scarborough, Mosman Park, Mount Hawthorn, Collie and Albany will be hosting casual drop-in sessions between 11-29 May. This is an opportunity to meet the team and volunteers, join them for morning tea, and try your hand at styling a mannequin or colour-blocking racks.
