The two-hour broadcast showcased the good works of Vinnies Victoria and David, who generously donated his time, shared his own personal affinity with Vinnies because his father, Bill, was a volunteer for more than 50 years.
“My dad was a real inspiration in so many ways, but his commitment to helping out people who needed a hand in the community is something that’s with me every day.
“I’m supporting Vinnies Victoria because I know the incredible impact they can make in one family’s life – they made a huge difference to my father when he was a child. And that spurred him on in adulthood to give something back through ‘good works’ for Vinnies.”
The annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout event was based around an online broadcast hosted by David and featured powerful stories of people who have personally experienced homelessness and been assisted by Vinnies Victoria.
"I grew up in a household where Vinnies was very present...I'd say most nights of the week my father after dinner would disappear out into the night to do Vinnies work.
"My father grew up in the Depression...one night there was a knock at the door and at the door was a representative of the St Vincent de Paul Society, Vinnies. That visit made an indelible mark on my father as to what that visit can actually do and how it can actually change somebody's life. A physical representation of what strong community can actually do and that's what Vinnies are so great at."
