Among the many stalls, St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria shone brightly. With two welcoming tables – one representing the Vinnies Shop and the other the Conference team – their presence was more than just informational, it was a heartfelt display of community spirit and unity. Friendly chatter and laughter flowed easily in the stalls, radiating a sense of camaraderie that didn’t go unnoticed.
Visitors were drawn in not just by the brochures or the inviting displays, but by the genuine warmth of the volunteers. Many stopped to chat, to connect or simply to say thank you. Some shared deeply personal stories – moments from their past when life had felt unbearably heavy. They spoke of the hand up they had received from the Society, and how, thanks to that support, they were now thriving.
It was a powerful reminder of the quiet impact the Society has in the lives of so many. Community Day wasn’t just about showcasing services – it was about celebrating resilience, kindness and the threads that tie a community together.
As the sun dipped behind the hills and the day came to a close, there was a shared sense of something meaningful having taken place. In the heart of Casterton, a little more light had been shared and a little more hope had been passed on.
