Together, we can provide essential support and make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with poverty and homelessness. Your involvement with Vinnies is more than just volunteering - it’s a step towards a more compassionate and equitable world.
All profits from our Retail Shops are channelled back into the delivery of our services which include Emergency Assistance for those experiencing food insecurity, poverty and homelessness, Homelessness Services, Mental Health Services, Emergency Accommodation, Financial Counselling and Youth engagement.
We have many volunteering roles available at Vinnies WA. There are vacancies for Retail Assistants which include sorting donated clothing, homewares, books and bric-a-brac, Customer Service, visual merchandising and cash/Eftos handling. Truck Driver and Offsider roles exist at our regional depot shops and from time to time there are administration and call-taker roles available too.
The minimum age for volunteering with Vinnies is 15 years.
Volunteers stand at ergonomic sorting tables to sort donations, and we recommend volunteers rotate their tasks to prevent physical strain – and boredom.
Volunteers can choose to expand their volunteering experience and try a number of different tasks.
We recommend a try-out period to see if you enjoy the location, the role and the team. Even after signing up, you can adjust your schedule to fit in with your availability.
Time off for appointments or other personal commitments does not need to be made up; but notification of non-attendance is appreciated.
After a try-out we suggest you start by volunteering 3-4 hours a week and increase it later if you’re having a wonderful experience.
All Vinnies volunteers receive training for their roles. In person training is given, and some online training is delivered. Even if you don’t g have access to a computer, Vinnies training is facilitated at the location of volunteering.
You may take leave of absence from your Vinnies volunteering role at any time, and resume again when you’re ready. Centrelink volunteers should always check with Centrelink beforehand and notify them of planned holidays.
