As the festive season approaches, Vinnies WA is calling on the community to share the spirit of Christmas by supporting our annual Christmas Appeal. With the cost-of-living crisis affecting more families than ever, your generosity can help bring hope, joy, and essential relief to those struggling this holiday season.
This year, Vinnies WA has supported over 61,000 West Australians, providing vital assistance like food, housing, and financial counselling. However, the need continues to grow, with thousands of families facing the harsh reality of a holiday season without the basics many of us take for granted.
This year alone, Vinnies WA had nearly 50,000 calls for emergency assistance, up from 45,000 last year.
Each call represents a family or individual facing hardship, and the rise in demand highlights the worsening financial pressures many West Australians are experiencing. From putting food on the table to keeping a roof over their heads, more people are reaching out to us in their most desperate moments.
Vinnies WA CEO, Susan Rooney, emphasised the importance of community support during this challenging time: “Christmas should be a time of joy, but for many West Australians, it’s a time of anxiety and hardship. Through the generosity of our supporters, we aim to ensure that every family feels the warmth and hope of the festive season.”
Our dedicated volunteers are already preparing hampers filled with food, toiletries, and small gifts to bring smiles to families on Christmas Day.
