Mandurah shop volunteer Dorothy ‘Dot’ Archer has been recognised for her service in the Alcoa Peel region Volunteer of the Year Awards.
She was among a number of people to be nominated, with another volunteer ultimately taking out the top gong.
Dot, who started volunteering at the shop in early 1989, says she didn’t expect to be nominated, but it was nice to see her efforts recognised.
‘I love volunteering and helping out the community, but I also love the staff and the atmosphere at the shop.
‘Next January, I’ll have been volunteering for 34 years. I think I must like it, because I keep coming back,’ she joked.
