If you’re still looking for the perfect gift for a loved one this Christmas, consider making a donation in their name to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal, and at the same time make a difference in the lives of people facing hardship this festive season.
The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is aiming to raise $1.45 million through the Vinnies Christmas Appeal to enable them to respond to the growing demand for assistance across the state.
The Society NSW distributed approximately $13.7 million in financial and material assistance during the last year, including $8.1 million in food assistance.
“If you’re not sure what to get for people in your life, consider making a donation to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal in their name,” said Yolanda Saiz, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW CEO.
“Our members and services are located in communities across the state providing assistance to people based on their individual needs. We know this time of year is challenging for a lot of people, so we ask that you consider giving generously if you are in a position to do so.”
“A donation will make a tangible difference in the lives of people doing it tough and give recipients the comfort to know that they are giving certainty to people in their time of need,” said Ms Saiz.
St Vincent de Paul Society NSW members supported close to 100,000 people across the state during the past year, providing assistance with food, clothing, accommodation, household bills and more.
Demand for assistance from the Society increased by 14% over the past 12 months with a third of all people assisted reaching out for the first time.
“Christmas is a time of goodwill towards everyone in the community and an act of charity, such as donating to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal, will have a lasting impact,” said Peter Houweling, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW State President.
“Our members are already making a difference by delivering food hampers and presents to households to ensure no one goes without this Christmas. Making a donation to the Vinnies Christmas Appeal ensures we can offer a gift of support right now and into the future,” said Mr Houweling.
