Spring has arrived, and what better way to celebrate than by getting into your local Vinnies shop and picking up a bargain?
From 2 – 10 September all Vinnies shops in South Australia are offering 50% off clothing, excluding new school uniform items.
The sale coincides with the launch of the Vinnies Spring Appeal and couldn’t come at a better time for shoppers, with the cost-of-living crisis forcing people around the country to tighten their belts.
But for some, looking for little ways to save money is not enough, and the team at Vinnies is seeing record numbers of people reaching out for assistance with the basics, such as food and help to pay rent and bills.
Vinnies SA CEO Evelyn O’Loughlin said that the growing number of people seeking help was alarming.
‘The people we are hearing from are actually very good at managing their money, but with the increasing cost-of-living including spiralling energy and rent prices, everyday items are out of reach for many, even those in full-time work. Once they have paid for the basics, there is very little money – if any – left over,’ Ms O’Loughlin said.
‘Our shops enjoy incredible community support from shoppers and donors alike. We are grateful for the ongoing quality donations we receive, and with our shops being extremely well-stocked the time is right to clear some stock while helping people stretch their dollar a little further.
‘By purchasing pre-loved, you are buying a meal for someone experiencing homelessness; providing someone sleeping rough with blankets; supporting a single mother escaping domestic violence or making sure there is food on the table for a struggling family.’
Don’t miss out on your opportunity to update your wardrobe for less while helping Vinnies SA support people who need a helping hand. Find a shop near you at vinnies.org.au/shops
