The Wodens Monaro Highway Civil Taster Program is a unique workforce participation pre-employment model for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples, individuals or their family members that have had a connection with the AMC. This is an accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment on the Monaro Highway Upgrade Project and within the broader construction sector.
The Wodens Monaro Highway Civil Taster Program is a unique workforce participation pre-employment model for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples, individuals or their family members that have had a connection with the AMC. This is an accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment on the Monaro Highway Upgrade Project and within the broader construction sector.
Commenced on Tuesday 3rd September 2024, this 4-week program is running three days per week (Tuesday – Thursday) and is a combination of theory and practical hands-on learning. All training will take place at Master Builders Association in Fyshwick.
On successfully completing the program, the participants receive the following qualifications:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided.
Participants who successfully complete all elements of the program may be interviewed and connected to employment opportunities working with Wodens and their subcontractors on the Monaro Highway Project, or alternatively, with other construction employers. All participants will have the opportunity to have individualised case management and access transition pathways with Worldview’s Social Enterprise or into other education, training and/or employment pathways.
This program is delivered by Wodens, The Umbrella Collective, Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn, MBA Group Training, Southern Training Organisation, Worldview Foundation and jointly funded by ACT Training Fund Authority and Wodens.
