Wodens Monaro Highway Civil Taster Program

Wodens, The Umbrella Collective, Vinnies, ACT Training Fund Authority and Worldview, are excited to deliver a unique workforce participation pre-employment model for Indigenous AMC individuals released from custody and their families.

Are you Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or have you been connected to the AMC in the past or do you have a family member that has been connected to the AMC?

Are you over the age of 17?

Do you have an interest in the construction sector?

Are you physically fit to work in the construction sector?

If you answered yes to *all the above, then please contact us for more information on the Wodens Monaro Highway Civil Taster Program.

Wodens, The Umbrella Collective, Vinnies, ACT Training Fund Authority and Worldview, are excited to deliver a unique workforce participation pre-employment model for Indigenous AMC individuals released from custody and their families. This model will be an accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment on the Monaro Highway Upgrade Project and within the broader Construction sector. 

Commencing Tuesday 3rd September 2024, this 4-week program will run three days per week (Tuesday – Thursday) and will be a combination of theory and practical hands-on learning.  All training will take place at Master Builders Association in Fyshwick.

At the completion of the program participants will have:

  • Completed White Card, Asbestos Awareness, and Silica Awareness
  • Three units of competency:
    • RIICCM207E - Spread and compact materials manually
    • RIISAM203E - Use hand and power tools
    • RIISAM204E - Operate small plant and equipment
  • Been provided with relevant Personal Protective Equipment
  • Individualised Case Management to help them through their journey

Participants who successfully complete all elements of the program may be interviewed and connected to employment opportunities working with Wodens and their subcontractors on the Monaro Highway Project, or alternatively, with other construction employers.  All participants will have the opportunity to be supported through a transition pathway with Worldview’s Social Enterprise or into other education, training and/or employment pathways.

The information session will provide individuals with advice on eligibility criteria, program content and the commitment that is required to be selected as a participant on this program.
