A submission to the Select Committee on Workforce Australia Employment.
We summarise the variation of Mutual Obligation and Work for the Dole placements that currently operate across our shop network, with Mutual Obligation placements much more common than Work for the Dole placements.
The Society has found placements are beneficial to the participant and provider if they are tailored, flexible and able to be adapted to a participant’s needs. Improved communication (by employment service providers) is also needed, as well as resources to cover well-suited placements, extra supports and follow up. If done well, benefits not only lead to employment but also improved social inclusion and wellbeing for the participant.
