Work for our National Council

The St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia represents and guides the Society nationally, enabling and facilitating the state and territory councils to achieve our mission.

The National Council Secretariate team is based in Canberra, ACT and employs skilled professionals across various departments including advocacy, policy, strategy, overseas partnerships, communications and IT.

"It is immensely gratifying to be part of this dedicated team whose professional efforts and spiritual focus are helping to create a fairer Australia, especially for the many people still experiencing disadvantage."  Robin Osborne, National Media and Communications Manager.

Our commitment to safeguarding

National Council recognises the personal dignity and rights of all people, especially children and vulnerable adults. As part of your employment, you will be required to undergo relevant background checks (e.g. Police and referee checks).

Although not mandatory, it is a preference for employees to have a Working with Vulnerable People card. All employees must follow National Council policies including our Safeguarding of Children and Adults at Risk Policy. All staff are asked to review and sign off on the National Council Code of Conduct.

Our commitment to diversity

National Council encourages and supports an inclusive and diverse workforce. We consider applications regardless of race, sex, gender, age and disability. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, members of minority groups and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
