The St Vincent de Paul Society and Amazon Australia have teamed up again to provide more than 1,000 students with back-to-school essentials.

The Society’s National Council President, Claire Victory, said Amazon Australia’s generosity will help families struggling to make ends meet at a time that carries extra expenses.

‘For the second year in a row, Amazon Australia is providing one thousand $100 gift cards that the Society will be distributing to families all around the country,’ Ms Victory said.

‘They can use the cards to buy from the Vinnies ‘Back-to-School’ online shop at Amazon.com.au, where there’s a wide selection of school products to choose from, including backpacks, drink bottles and stationery.

‘The cards are being provided to people we assist in every state and territory,’ Ms Victory said.

Amazon Australia Country Manager, Janet Menzies, said that the company was proud to offer its support to Vinnies again this year.

‘The start of the school year is an important time for every child, but we know it can be a difficult one for many families financially with the cost of back to school essentials,’ Ms Menzies said.

‘For a second year, Amazon is proud to team up with Vinnies to support families with a range of school products. We hope this offers some assistance for parents in setting their kids up for a successful 2022 school year.’

The St Vincent de Paul Society will be providing some of the 1,000 gifts cards direct to families in need and via its extensive membership network who will help families purchase supplies using the cards.

Ms Victory said: “Vinnies helps people every day but we rely on donations to do it.

‘Significant commitments like the one Amazon Australia has now made two years in row extend our ability to provide practical assistance,’ Ms Victory said.

The St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia consists of 60,000 members and volunteers who operate on the ground through over 1,000 groups located in local communities across the country.
