Welcome to this issue of our quarterly magazine The Record.
The Record provides a snapshot of St Vincent de Paul Society’s engagement with Australian society and the commitment of our Members, Volunteers and Staff to assisting people in need.
This Spring issue of our quarterly magazine showcases a wide variety of our community-based activities across Australia. These include emergency and more permanent accommodation to assist both women and men who have been left homeless by the nation's chronic housing shortages and the cost-of-living crisis.
We have been honoured by visits to these services in NSW and Tasmania by the Governor-General of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC who is well known for her commitment to social justice issues.
This issue also discusses the McKell Institute’s evaluation of emergency relief programs in NSW, the charity-focused legislation drafted by the Stronger Charities Alliance, and the significant report on child justice reform released by the Children's Commissioner, Ms Anne Hollonds.
The highly successful 2024 Vinnies CEO Sleepout is another focus, as is the flow-on from the Society's Congress 2023+ in Sydney where delegates agreed on revitalisation pathways for the Society at a time when all charities are facing massive challenges.
These issues and more are in the spring 2024 issue of The Record, a roundup of our activities and the commitment of our members, volunteers and staff to assisting people in need and influencing national decision makers.
If you’re not already, we invite you to be a subscriber and hope you will enjoy reading about our valuable work throughout the Australian community.
