St Vincent de Paul Society NSW has launched an appeal to help people across Northern NSW impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The 2022 Vinnies NSW Flood Appeal raised over $6 million, and we have distributed it in entirety to provide immediate relief, recovery, and longer-term rebuilding efforts.
Bushfires devastated many communities across NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria between September 2019 and February 2020.
Vinnies was one of the first organisations on the ground in the immediate aftermath of the fires, providing care and practical support. Volunteer members like Bill Baragry, Liz Royal and Marlene McWilliams in Forster rushed to help their communities, even as the bushfires threatened their own homes.
In the 2018/19 financial year, the need for our support increased by 77% in drought-affected areas.
For the O’Connor family, drought assistance from Vinnies helped to cover much-needed household expenses such as groceries and utilities, as well as pay the car registration when there was an unexpected family crisis.
