Vinnies Emergency Relief Service is a front-line service that works with the poor and disadvantaged at some of the most difficult times in an individuals or family's life. 

This work requires confidential information and data collection used in government reporting providing insight to the immediate needs of the poor and disadvantaged in the Territory.

Vinnies is looking for people who...

  • Have an interest in our community.
  • Can handle difficult conversations and provide meaningful support and understanding.
  • Are keen to help people who are at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness.
  • Work as a team under the direction of an experienced Case Worker and Vinnies Emergency Relief Manager. 
  • Can give 3 hours per week 'up to' as many hours as you wish.
  • Have availability Tuesday and Wednesday mornings between 9am -12pm

The Role:

  • Work with a mentor and receive training to become an Emergency Relief Case Worker.
  • Training and Support provided by Vinnies Emergency Relief Manager and experienced Case Workers.  
  • Sit with Emergency Relief Guests and support honest and clear conversation about available services. 
  • Learn and understand Vinnies Services and referrals to other services. 
  • Collect and handle private and confidential information and data for government reporting.
  • 100% discretionary - need a break, we will support you.

Locations:

  • Palmerston
  • Stuart Park (Ozanam House Day Centre for the Homeless)

Personal Protective Equipment / Clothing and Uniforms:

Vinnies ask all Volunteers wear:

  • Enclosed shoes.
  • Casual, conformable and appropriate clothing for the role above.
  • Uniforms are not provided.
