Skål International Hobart is proud to support the important work of Loui’s Van, a valued service that feeds the homeless and hungry; offering a friendly face, hope and advice to those in need across the Greater Hobart area.

Skål International Hobart is made up of hundreds of local business people from the tourism and hospitality sector and proudly supports St Vincent de Paul Tasmania (Vinnies) by providing an annual contribution of $5,000 which will pay for the fuel for Loui's Van.

Loui’s Van is an after-hours mobile service providing food, information and support to those experiencing disadvantage. Its three vans, and over 250 volunteers provide food and support in the Greater Hobart area and some surrounding rural suburbs six nights a week.

Skål International Hobart president Dave Flower said: “We know the cost-of-living crisis is hitting Tasmanians hard and we admire what Loui’s Van does to help, providing 220 meals per week.”

“Our membership is made up of Tasmanians who work in the tourism and hospitality industry, and no one understands better than them the positive impact of a hearty, warm meal.

“Skal is dedicated to giving back to the community and what better way than through Loui’s Van.”

Vinnies Chief Executive Officer Heather Kent said: “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Skål International Hobart for their generosity and community spirit.

“Loui’s Vans offer a critically important service in the state’s south, which is available to anyone in need, including those who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, isolated, or simply seeking a warm meal and friendly support.

“The services provided include warm, nutritious meals, fresh fruits, hot and cold drinks, as well as information, referrals to other community services and government agencies. Most importantly, Loui’s Vans’ volunteers offer a warm, friendly welcome in times of distress.”
