Safeguarding Policy

Safeguarding Policy

The Society of St Vincent de Paul Tasmania (the Society) is fully committed to providing safe spaces and ensuring safe relationships for the children and adults we serve.

To minimise exposure to the risk of harm and to outline appropriate management of instances where it is alleged that harm may have occurred, the Society has developed a Safeguarding Policy. This policy is informed by the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, the Tasmanian Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework, and the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards - Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd, together with best practice guidelines and the Mission and Code of Conduct of the Society.

The Society has made a Statement of Commitment to Safeguarding and has also appointed a Safeguarding Officer who supports the Society by promoting the safe care of children and adults-at-risk involved in Society activities. The Safeguarding Officer also supports the CEO and People and Culture Manager when dealing with complaints and concerns about Safeguarding matters, reporting to relevant civil authorities, and advising the Society on any protective measures necessary to increase the protection afforded to children and adults-at-risk.

The Safeguarding Officer may be contacted by emailing safeguarding@vinniestas.org.au. This email address is monitored on weekdays until 4:30pm. Alternatively, a Safeguarding Incident Notification Form can be completed online. This will be received by the Safeguarding Officer, the CEO and the People and Culture Manager.
